PSR-LA Scores Major Legislative Victories!
Thanks to the hard work of members and partners, two important bills co-sponsored by PSR-LA scored major legislative victories in Sacramento this August!
PSR-LA co-sponsored SB 775 (The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Act of 2007) will give parents an important tool in protecting their children from lead poisoning -- it adds lead screening to the yellow immunization card to inform parents that their children need to be screened for risk of lead poisoning and to remind physicians to test all children in publicly funded health care programs at ages 12 and 24 months, and later if necessary.

Senate Joint Resolution 19:
Medical Torture Resolution
California Condemns Medical Torture with Senate Joint Resolution 19. This makes California the first state to condemn the use of torture in the "War on Terror."
The bill instructs our state's licensing boards to inform California doctors, psychologists and other health professionals of their obligations under national and international law relating to torture.
